Project 4: Here to Help by Jen Getting Walls in Show Shape Need help getting your walls in show shape? Ask Jen at jlsevern@yahoo.com Getting Walls in Show Shape To wrap paintings and store them. This will get the walls in show shape! Today my mom wrapped the paintings up and I carried them over to the storage area. We finished the basement! I worked for four hours, but my mom has logged many more on this project. I was able to carry them for her. She is a very hard working strong woman and I was so happy to come along side her today! I thought about my dad a bit today as I was logging my 3.5 miles carrying paintings. I love art because of my parents. I wish my dad could see my mom now. He would be looking down so proud of her! He sure left her with a lot. She is handling is with such grace and strength. I saw a beautiful red breasted wood pecker as I was walking back and forth. I remebered how they have enjoyed this place and all the gifts that have surrounded this prope...

Project 3: Here to Help by Jen Closet Clean Out Need Help Cleaning Out a Closet? Ask Jen at jlsevern@yahoo.com Assignment: This closet was stuffed full of old hobby gear and other miscellaneous items. Sort out trash, good will and treasures and distribute accordingly. This project was a labor of love to help my mom. After my dad passed he left behind all his gear for his hobbies. Going through a closet like this is not only labor intensive but emotional work as well. We were able to catch a vision from my mom and execute it. She left the work to us. We consulted her at the end with a few final decisions. In the end she said, "This just took a huge burden off my shoulders. I didn't know how I would ever get that done. Thank You!" Stats: This project took 3 hard working adults 4.5 hours. We took one truck stuffed full of items to Good Will, preserved a few treasures, disposed of one box of hazardous materials, took 6 trash bags to the dump and organized what ...

PROJECT 2: PLANTING FLOWERS & A GARDEN CLIENT'S REQUEST: PURCHASE AND PLANT FLOWERS AND GARDEN VEGETABLES. ADD COLOR TO A GORGEOUS BACK PATIO AND FRONT PORCH BY PLANTING FLOWERS.  PLANTING YELLOW SQUASH, ZUCCHINI, GREEN, RED AND YELLOW PEPPERS, CUCUMBERS, TOMATOS AND CARROTS TO A VEGETABLE GARDEN. I got this project through my friend who I get all my yummy Wild Tree products from Carrie. Her friend needed help planting. Between work, kids and other life busyness they couldn't seem to fit planting into their schedules. They love having a garden and looking at the flowers but getting it all set seemed like a chore. This worked out perfectly for me because I absolutely love planting flowers and gardens. For me it's relaxing and rewarding. I am hoping that I get to see updates on all the beautiful blooms that share their glory this summer and the bountiful harvest that their garden will yield! I bought all the flowers & veggies, planted about 13 pots and two ra...

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Image
Feeling  LUCKY! We sat down for our St. Patrick's Day dinner at the incredible petrified wood table. The rings of age alone can mesmerize me for days. The table was sprinkled with mint chocolate cupcakes from our favorite local bakery SweetCakes . Pure white Gerber daisies, green poofs and tiny pink flowers on what looked like a rosemary sprig sprung out of the dark Guinness Bottle vases. The kitchen was full of rich flavors making our mouths water from the moment we walked in the door. The boys told tales from their day at the auto show that confirmed this memory will far out weigh the consequences of missing a few hours of school. Snow was whiting out the lake just a few yards away as huge snowflake fell from the sky. Lond got to sit in a one of a kind Lamborghini and they make the highlight real of the Denver Auto Show. Jess had a refreshing day with out her phone. I caught up on laundry and had a ‘me too’ moment while cutting fat off of a chicken thigh. There is fat all ov...

Stitch Fix Winter 2016

Image
Stitch fix Winter 2016 Cable Knit Grey Infinity Scarf. Stitch Fix is good for accessories. They are very reasonable in price and usually very cute. I also like that there is almost always one thing in the box that you will keep so you don't lose the $20 styling fee. I have had a few boxes over the years that were a complete bust, but very few. This scarf came in a box where I kept everything. I love it! It's super soft and cozy. I wore this on one of those sunny Colorado winter mornings. It's warm in the sun and cool in the shade. #ColoradoLove #Denver

Dear Emily....

Image
Dear Emily....  My friend Emily has a fantastic father. I will be hanging out in the kitchen talking with Emily and she will say, "My dad always says...". Whenever that phrase comes up the room perks up, her dad has great wisdom to pass on. I don't know Roger Cozens well, but I have grown to love him as a father to my friend. She is a chip off the old block. As part of Life in a Larger Story I want to post cool things from life outside of my own, occasionally I will be posting what I am going to call Dear Emily posts. This is a bit of wisdom from Roger Cozens and Emily. I may not always post the context that the tidbit of wisdom came up in, but I may.  This time we were talking about work and next steps. I think someone was weighing taking another job or not to take another job. In this paradox sometimes we can feel stuck or paralyzed.  Dear Emily.... Good food for thought.  I am hoping after I collect several of the...

Yes Please! Book Club 2016

Image
Welcome to Page Turner Tuesday  Life in a Larger Story's book club 2016 YES PLEASE! By Amy Poehler I loved listening to this audiobook read by the author, Amy Poehler. It was recommended to me by one of my dear friends who is a follower of Jesus. She secretly said, "I know you will love this book, but it wouldn't be for the more conservative Christ follower." She warned me. I had to laugh and put it at the top of my list.  Amy invites a few guest readers into her audio booth for the reading and that adds interest to the book. She speaks frankly about everything from sex, drugs, parenting, show business, friendship and her career. I found it refreshing. I laughed a lot. Her openness shocked me at times. Honesty is my favorite medium so I appreciated her openness. Her language is colorful, witty and succinct. She uses illustrations, stories and humor in just the right moments to tell her story. I usually listen to books while I am in the car. I let the kids ...
