Assignment: This closet was stuffed full of old hobby gear and other miscellaneous items. Sort out trash, good will and treasures and distribute accordingly.
This project was a labor of love to help my mom. After my dad passed he left behind all his gear for his hobbies. Going through a closet like this is not only labor intensive but emotional work as well. We were able to catch a vision from my mom and execute it. She left the work to us. We consulted her at the end with a few final decisions. In the end she said, "This just took a huge burden off my shoulders. I didn't know how I would ever get that done. Thank You!"
Stats: This project took 3 hard working adults 4.5 hours. We took one truck stuffed full of items to Good Will, preserved a few treasures, disposed of one box of hazardous materials, took 6 trash bags to the dump and organized what was left over.
I just want to throw this out there, we all need help! I hate painting but love planting. I have areas of my life and my house that look just like this. Life is messy! We live, we love and sometimes we need help and get messy. I never want any of my projects to shame anyone. I am just finding that there are some ways that I would love to use some the things I enjoy to help others. Honest, do I love going into stale closets and going through this stuff? If it were doing this or water skiing, I'd choose water skiing, but it's so much more than cleaning out a closet or planting flowers. It's loving and serving others. This video at the end and the smile on my mom's face, that's why I like this job.
Check out the images from this project. Need help or know someone who does? This is my new job and I have a team of people if it's a large project!

Love! I would give my life for this woman! Anything for you!
Lessons in choosing which treasures to keep. We found a few treasures, vintage arrows and charts. For the arrows we selected the 3 most unique to keep as basement decor. We sorted all the charts and narrowed down the few that had the most meaning and then kept one to frame.
