Project 5 : Keep It Together

Image
Project 5 Here to Help by Jen KEEP IT TOGETHER Need help getting organized? Ask Jen at jlsevern@yahoo.com KEEP IT TOGETHER Here is a simple rule I've learned in organizing, KEEP IT TOGETHER. Keep like objects in the same place neatly stored. I am completely guilty of having scissors in 10 different places in my house and I can never find any of them, so I buy more! I have started using this KEEP IT TOGETHER rule and it's revolutionizing my spaces. Here we created a place for all of our cords. One is for our apple devices and the other is for our extension cords. The extension cord bin is in the garage and the apple cords are in the media room. Now when I find a random charger it gets wrapped up and put in this bin. If we need an extension cord we know where to find it. You will find as you begin to implement this strategy you will discover you have more than you thought. I have learned I may never need to buy tape again! Happy organizing! "Mom, I can'...

Grandma's Birthday!

Image
We threw a simple family birthday bash for grandma! We had a blast and the place looked fun and festive. I love my mother-in-law and father-in-law like they were my own! JOY!! GETTING READY: I bought cup cakes from a local bakery. I use SweetCakes . If you are close you should buy them from her. They are amazing every time. Grandma said she liked white and dark chocolate so we choose her Tuxedo Cup Cakes. They have chocolate cake, topped with chocolate ganache, and white chocolate icing topped with shaved chocolate. They were to die for! Not only that but they look beautiful. A beautiful dessert serves as a sweet celebratory treat as well as a decoration! We added a few streamers, balloons and tissue poofs. We also put kazoos and horns on the table. I added in a flower arrangement and the room was set. WHAT TO EAT? I made her famous pasta sauce. It's a bit of work, but a family favorite. We all indulged on our love for grandma and celebrated her in style. ASK FOR HELP...

Necklaces have a tendency to get tossed, tangled and thrown into a corner. They were meant to be hung! Check out this simple solution. NAILED IT! I love this beautiful display in my closet. Project 5 : Making Real Estate Pictures Pop

Image
Here to Help by Jen MAKING REAL ESTATE PICTURES POP Need help making your real estate pictures pop? Ask Jen at jlsevern@yahoo.com MAKING REAL ESTATE PICTURES POP Adding pops of color to the home for the marketing pictures. TIME: 3 hours FUN: Through the roof! LOVED this project! PROJECT DETAILS: My mom's real estate broker asked her to add center pieces to her tables that were bright in color. After a few long days of prep work, I asked my mom how I could help? She needed me to go to the store and buy the flowers and arrange them. She knew she wanted to include sun flowers in the arrangement. She also asked me to buy fruit for her fruit basket to make it full of color. I was happy to help! Check out how it turned out! I choose these flowers for the arrangements full of amazing color. These turned out incredible. I used a variety of sun flowers, daisies and greens to fill these vases. When we were looking for a vase I saw she had these hurricane ...

Calling all Queens!

Image
BEE UPDATE When life gives you Bees, make honey! Despite all our best attempts, the queen is procreating in the column on our back deck. The next step is we will have to take the brick and siding off the column, remove the hive, clean it out, put it back together and seal it with the hopes that they will enjoy having a hive in a more traditional place, like the tree out back. Did you know that the queen can have 50 baby bees a day? It's happening. The Bee Keeper will make another attempt to coerce the queen Wednesday. Stay tuned. When life gives you bees, make honey. Anyone know how I can fix a honey tap into my column.

Arrangement of the Week

Image
A kitchen with flowers makes me happy. You?  Summer flowers are the best! King Soopers has amazing flowers right now. I'm having really good luck there lately! It is no Pike's Market, but the summer selection is nice.   ‪ This arrangement includes: Lavender and Plum colored Stock & Soft White Hydrangea. How do you choose flowers for your arrangements? CHOOSING FLOWERS Flowers in your home should spark JOY!  LOOK IN THE SEPARATE STEMS SECTION. My grocery has beautiful bouquets, and then on the side they have individual flowers of a single type. This section usually has seasonal beauties. Go to this section and pick up the flower you are drawn to. Get the most beautiful one you see! Make it stand out!  Once you are holding the flower you are most drawn to, find a flower that compliments it. Try a complimentary color or a different shape. How do the greens look around your first choice. Add greens to make your color pop. If you are stuck, find inspira...

Farmer's Market

Image
Did you know you can get a basket full of produce for under $20 a week for 20 weeks? What? I just signed up for Miller Farms CSA program and I love it. Here is what you need to do. Go to this website. www.millerfarms.net Go to the CSA link. Print the application and fill it out.  Head to a Farmer's market near you (It must be a Farmer's Market that Miller Farms attends, check the website)  Bring your application. Choose if you will get a full or half share. For the best value I recommend that you split a full share with a friend. This will cost you $750 together, $375 each. This breaks down to $18.75 per week. When you arrive to the farmer's market find the Miller's Farm stand. Give them your application and pay. They will give you a basket. 1 basket is a half share, 2 baskets for a full share. They will also give you a letter. This letter and basket is your ticket to fill up for the next 20 weeks.   We were amazed at all the great produce we wer...

60 Day Challenge Beginning Week 3

Image
We just celebrated Father's day and we went out to Hagen Daz for Scott's favorite peanut butter chocolate ice cream. I'm not letting the 60 day challenge RULE. I am living, loving and celebrating too! Balance. Here are a few highlights of the past few weeks. ZIGGY"S! I went through the drive thru and got my mom a coffee. I didn't get one! I have not had a candy bar coffee while being on this challenge. My BFF Jess was on the other side of the drive thru. I looked over and thought, "WHAT! Is that person taking my picture?" I was so surprised it was Jess I couldn't stop laughing. Love this coffee shop. Love this friend. My daughter is trying out Life Time for the first time. We have been sampling classes together. I love mother daughter quality time at the gym!  I tried to be healthy and drink a juice with 'super greens'. I have a VERY sensitive stomach and I should have known better. I threw up twice and my stomach was stil...

Day 5 60 Day Challenge

Image
DAY 5 JUNE 9, 2016 WEIGHT 127.6 lbs. CHECK IN:  Today was really hard. I had sugar withdrawal headaches all day. My kids were also craving sugar (like eating semi-sweet chocolate chips). I'm hoping tomorrow is better. I did an early run/walk for exercise, I had to busy my brain or I was going to stop. I kept my brain busy by  listening to a great story being retold of Samson , so good. Today was rough. The battle is on. I ran early this morning and I am always hoping to see something beautiful. My run was just hard. After my run I took some friends to the airport and I saw this majestic mountain view with a basket full of people enjoying it! Beauty sustains me. I believe that God created all things and if I get to glimpse at His glory everyday it reminds me of His goodness. TGFF:   THANK GOD FOR FRIENDS Midday I got this text from a friend who is also trying to be aware and accountable to how she cares for her body. This text string made me laugh an...

60 Day Challenge

Image
Can you guess what 4 letter word and 5 letter word that came to my mind when I began this 60 day challenge at LifeTime Fitness? FEAR & SHAME Sunday, June 5th I weighed in and signed up for a 60 Day Challenge with LifeTIME Fitness. I have NEVER signed up for a fitness challenge at LifeTIME before and the main reasons are FEAR and SHAME. I am afraid I am going to fail. I am afraid that people will see how I eat, how I feed my family and how much I struggle to make good decision and I will be judged, mocked and despised. I am afraid of trying because I am afraid I can not change. I am afraid of knowing that I tried and I really can't do it. I am afraid that I will try, fail and then just be aware that I am officially stuck. I feel a heavy cloak of shame over my absolute addiction to sugar. I have five 20 oz. sugar filled coffee drinks a week. Not only is this addiction a financial burden, a complete addiction to sugar and caffeine but I'm also passing this bad habit ont...
