The Art of Racing In the Rain

Image
Welcome to Life in a Larger Story's book club 2016! I recently finished The Art of Racing In the Rain by Garth Stein. I must confess I am not really a dog person, so when I realized this book is told from the viewpoint of a dog I reconsidered my choice. It was a little rough for me at first, but I enjoyed the second half of the book.  Today I was having breakfast with a few of my girl friends. It was 11 degrees outside and we were all getting cozy in the living room recounting our Christmas vacations and the realities of going back to work. Both of my friends are dog lovers. Bode the fluffy white tall dog, was sound asleep on the chair and Clarence the short chubby dog was snoring on the couch as we were talking. Bode had not eaten in 36 hours and was feeling rather lethargic. I was actually enjoying listening to my girlfriends and how much they love their dogs. I guess this book stretched my heart a few sizes for my dog loving friends.  This book wa...

Not-So-Favorites

Just in case you were wondering what were my, not-so-favorites of this week. I'd hate for you to be mislead and think it's all sunshine and roses over here.  Top 5, Not-So-Favorite things this week: 5. Needles. Scott, had a few hour stay at the hospital this week, (don't worry- he's fine! All clear, all good). He had to be put under and instead of a loving goodbye I ran out of the room before I fainted. I had to convince myself to let the nausea pass and that I was not going to be that girl. Needles. 4. Clean house. I used to think, I wish my house looked like a magazine. Now I think people who live like this must be anxious and neurotic. This, not letting your house look 'lived in' life is awful. It's fake and clearly not for me. Come on house.... Sell! 3. Sleepless nights. I've been restless and anxious about some serious things this week. It sucks not sleeping well. 2. Emotional eating. I'm trying to eat healthy but binged on Ch...

Stitch Fix Winter 2016

Image
I am still LOVING Stitch Fix ! Check out this super cute black leather moto jacket. After wearing my friend Rebecca's moto jacket with a cute little dress one night I have been on the hunt for one of my own. I asked Stitch Fix to send me one. The first one they sent wasn't perfect (a little to tight), so I sent it back. This was the second try and I LOVE IT! It's cute with jeans and a t-shirt and I could throw it over a dress for a night on the town! It's really soft and comfortable too! Here's a link to Stitch Fix if you want to give it a try. It has revolutionized my wardrobe! Can't wait for my next fix!

Boom! How to have a Clean Shower Everyday!

Image
Here is one simple step to keeping your glass shower spotless. Squeegee it after ever use! Boom! Beautiful in 30 seconds!   Keep a shower squeegee and a spray bottle of bleach in your shower. Here is the hard part, every time you finish your shower train yourself and anyone else who showers there to turn the water off, then squeegee the shower down. As you stand there and relax for a minute and the water fall off your body take 30 seconds to get the water off the glass and the tile walls. It's that simple. You will be amazed at how easy it is. If you have some shower scum built up, first spray those areas with bleach, then squeegee it. Simple! It's looks shiny and clean. The squeegee minimizes the water drops and residue from forming on your shower glass or walls. It's nice and easy. I recommend getting a squeegee that looks nice, so you don't mind leaving it in your shower all the time. I like mine with a hook so I can hang it up when I...

Tea With Hezbollah

Image
Welcome to  Page Turner Tuesday  book club 2016 with Life in a Larger Story! I just finished listening to Tea with Hezbollah Sitting at the Enemies' Table, Our Journey Through the Middle East by Ted Dekker and Carl Medearis . I enjoyed listening to it on Audible while being a free Uber driver for my kids. I fell in love with the teaching of Carl Medearis a few years ago while slipping into one of his talks at a Perspectives course offered at our church. Shortly after I read his book Speaking of Jesus , which is, also a fantastic read.    This book, Tea with Hezbollah is fascinating. I highly recommend you give it a listen, or read. Ted does a fabulous job of narrating their travels and he even tells a side story that griped my attention. Carl and Ted set out on a journey in the Middle East to find out if it's even possible to live one of Jesus' greatest teachings, "love your neighbor" and your enemies. Ted and Carl had the opportunity to talk to very interes...
