Page Turner Tuesday - Finishing 2016

BOOKS! I love books! I'm WAY behind in my effort to blog! This is a post I've been wanting to post for quite awhile! DECEMBER BOOKS! Whew! These are the books I made it through in December 2016! A few I absolutely LOVED!!

The Astronaut Wives Club by Lily Koppel
I truly enjoyed this book. This book brings you through the beginning of the space program in America through the perspective of the astronaut wives. I loved it. These women held strong as their men conquered the final frontier. They did so with great sacrifice and service. They lived through a glorious era where their lives were stretched beyond the stars. This book left me with great admiration for these women for their commitment to their country and their men.

The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
This was my favorite book I read in 2016. This book will be with me always. This book tells the story of WWII through the eyes of a french family. It will keep you bound through each page. This is a beautiful story of love in war, between family, strangers and those who find themselves fighting for what they believe in. It's read with great expression in the audible version. I highly recommend listening to this audio book. I am tender towards this book. I hope it remains with me forever.

Wings of Fire : The Dragonet Prophecy by Tui T. Sutherland Book 1
My son London absolutely loves this book series. He has read the entire series over and over again. In effort to bond with him, I have been listening to this when we are in the car together. It's 100% worth it. It's an act of love, and I'm enjoying every moment. It's a great story! I love sharing in this part of his world with him.

Fervent by Pricilla Shirer
What a great book. In my personal life, I've been working quite a bit on Emotional Intelligence for the past few years. I have been studying the work of Brene Brown and Shadow Work. Priscilla Shirer has offered me a nice complement to this work. It's a lesson on prayer and it's power. I find it wise. It's difficult for me to implement, yet I know it is of great value. It also offers a spiritual edge to the work of emotional intelligence. It suggests, perhaps there is someone trying to seek, kill and destroy our lives. We should indeed be on guard and ready to defend what is ours, especially in battles for our thoughts and beliefs which deeply influence our behaviors. I intend to keep this book and be reminded of this invisible battle for my very soul.

Entrusted by Beth Moore
Each fall I try to complete a Beth Moore study. She is a student of the scriptures and has great insight into them. This study I loved as much as the rest. Perhaps my favorite part was her challenge to ask God to bless the work of my hands. Dare I? I love a challenge and it's always a challenge to take up and study with Beth Moore. I'm forever thankful for her devotion to the scriptures.
