Acadia National Park

Image
2016 commentates the 100th year of the National Parks in America. WELCOME to ACADIA NATIONAL PARK with Jen Severn. The sheer north facing cliffs were rich in copper, gold and grays sliced into statues after centuries of ice storms.  Maine is famous for having the best blueberries in the nation. This is a perfect Maine fall capturing the blueberries and the fluorescent colors marking the rivers edge.   The photographer has unimpressive family photos. We were blasted by a cold wind and making memories we won't forget.   Early morning sunrise just outside of Bar Harbor Drop dead gorgeous.  After seeing the National Parks IMAX our family decided to make an effort to get to as many as possible together. This year we trekked to Acadia National Park. Just getting there was a challenge. Between school schedules, flights in and out of Bangor, arranging financing for the trip, hotels and outings we did quite a bit of plannin...

Insurgent and Allegiant

Welcome to Page Turner Tuesday - A place to talk about recent books you've read! This week we are talking about: Insurgent  and  Allegiant (Divergent Series)  by Veronica Roth Have you read them? What did you think? Here's what I really want to know.   Did you read FOUR?   I'm just not sure I want to after Allegiant. I didn't love hearing FOUR's perspective and I'm not sure I'll like it for the entire book.   Should I read FOUR?   Let me say this, it feels amazing to finish a series. Boom! I finished the Divergent series by Veronica Roth. I personally loved this series, but truth be known I am sucker for a good series. I like the premise of the book. I kept thinking that the different factions represent some stereotypes in this life. I love to look at people all tatted up now as dauntless. This book reminded me that being Divergent, a person who looks at the world from multiple perspectives, is a privilege.  IF YOU WERE IN A FACTIO...

When will I see you next?

Be intentional about who you spend your time with. To have a relationship rich life we are intentional about whom we spend our time with. Our goal is to be with this family once a month. Family can be one of the greatest influencers and strengths in a person’s life. I married a man who has a twin brother and a best friend for life. This strong tie carries over to our kids. We are intentional about investing in this relationship; it's a priority we have all talked about together. To have a relationship rich life: 1. Decide who are the people we want to be closely connected with? 2. Set a realistic goal of how often you'd like to get together. 3. Communicate your desire and talk it out with those people. 4. Do your best. Give grace. Have fun. Here is how this looks for Scott and Jeff. They talk a lot. We Face Time often! As for getting together, we live 90 minutes away. We decided once a month is ideal and realistic goal to get together. Between birthdays and holidays w...

5 Tips to Warm Up Your House for Fall

Real Deal: Can you see the stack of bills on my desk? There is a HUGE stack of bills and a whole bunch of stuff I don't want to do but absolutely need to do. Therefore, I'm writing this first, then I'm going to clean my desk. I just wanted to show you the messy side of my life too. I just counted, I have 16 envelopes that need my attention and most likely my money. I have a million emails from the school that I need to see if there is anything really important I need to know. I swear I start reading emails from the school and the Charlie Brown teacher voice from the loud speaker starts playing in my head. We are going on vacation very soon and everyone wants to know when, I think it's time I figure that out. At my last job I would take one full day and an additional morning to work on my administration side of work. I learned that I also need admin days at home. Today's the day. I better find me some good coffee, a great book to listen to and get at it! But first,...
