Parenting a middle school kid is tough and wonderful. It's amazing seeing the person they are becoming. They are beyond sweet, wild, sassy, engaging, delightful and dreary and all these things can change from minute to minute. This morning, instead of getting out of bed right away, Scott and I took a minute to pray. YES, we pray for our parenting (which we don't do enough). We are walking a path of uncharted territory for our family. I came across a great article in the Huffington Post today on middle school kids. YES! Loving Stitch Fix ! I'd say Melissa "nailed it!" This round I am keeping all but one. WOW! Check out these stunning views from our hike today! Scott and I took our kids and our niece and nephew on a little adventure today. It was really warm, so warm that there was a rattle snake soaking up the last of the summer sun on the trail. It always takes a little effort to get 5 kids fed, hydrated, and away from their ipads, but the effort is worth the reward!

HI FRIENDS! Check this out!!!  Do you have a daughter going to high school or about to start middle school like I do? I don't know about you but my daughter is nervous for a new school, new friends, new teachers and a new locker. I was thinking of something fun I could do with her friends to celebrate back to school and hopefully get some of the jitters out. I decided to go here to the Jamberry Nails , Nail Art Studio. We are turning our old swing-set and sandbox into a square foot garden. Check out the progress! First we had to dig out all the sand and gravel from the sandbox. Some of our friends came to help us! We made a pile on our driveway and then borrowed a trailer to haul it away. It turned out some neighbors needed some dirt, so they got in on the fun too! Wheelbarrows are hard to drive! Have you tried it recently? One of the loads got away from me and spilled into the neighbors yard. Whoops. Our friends are requesting payment in tomatoes and cucumbers! What fun is it to have dirt if you can't play in it? A little dirt won't hurt! Wa ha ha, evil sand monster, here she comes! We hauled the dirt out to my parents ranch. Then my husband and the kids helped fill holes in the dirt roads around the ranch. It was nice to help Don out, do a little dirty work, and check out the view!
