Summer Bucket List
A summer bucket list is a great way to keep track of all the fun summer activities you want to do! We LOVE our Summer Bucket List!! Our family bucket list has been surprisingly great for a few reasons. First, when my kids say, "Mommy, can we.....?" I say, "That is a great idea! Lets put it on our bucket list. Go write it down on a clothespin and hang it up." Now my child's idea is heard, valued and remembered.
Secondly, the bucket lists holds me accountable. Too often my kids ideas fall on my, too-much-going-on-right-now-to-remember-that-later, deaf-ears. My kids have good ideas, but often it's just not a good idea for right that minute. Then we keep track of the idea and when it's the right time we get to do it and enjoy it! It feels good to put that great idea into the bucket too!
Thirdly, our summer bucket list ideas are nice dinner conversations. We go around and ask, what would you like to do this summer? We write all the ideas down on clothespins. Some of the ideas, we won't do this summer, but we write them anyway and hope to get to them in the future.
The fourth reason is we are growing closer as we work through our list! The bucket list provides a way for each family member to have an equal voice. Sometimes one person has more 'idea-time' or influence, than the other. For example, lets face it, my ideas may happen more than the rest. The bucket list gives each persons idea face time, a clothespin, it's even. As we value one another, and each persons ideas that fosters respect around the table. As we accomplish ideas on our list, we are growing closer as we are making memories. We are enjoying doing things together as a family. The bucket list is causing us to stretch and do new things too. We are getting out of our family RUT! This is FUN!
Finally, the bucket list allows us to reflect at the end of the summer on the fun things we did. When we finish doing something on the bucket list, everyone loves throwing the idea written on the clothespin, into the bucket! Mission accomplished! It has been loads of fun. Here is how you make one like ours.
You need.
There is a lot of creative freedom in this project!
HOW the BUCKET LIST WORKS!
We write the ideas on the clothespin with the fine tip sharpie. You may be able to find clothes pins at your local dollar store! Then we pin them to the ribbion. Once we do it, we take them off the ribbon and put them into the bucket! It's that easy!

Hike a 14er.
Hike Mt. Sanitas
Canoe
Have a water balloon fight
Have a lemonade stand
Have a sleepover with...
Have the ..... family over for dinner
See a whale
Run the Boulder Bolder
Go on an evening walk with the family
Have a family baseball game
Have a movie day.
Have a video game day.
Make popcycles.
Watch a lightening storm at night.
Go to the pool.
Go to the Bay.
Go to water world.
Go to Golden Spoon.
Eat at Red Robin.
Make SMORES on a campfire.
Spend a night in the mountains.
Play in the ocean.
Water ski.
Go white water rafting.
Play with chalk.
Sleep IN.
Go to Mississippi to see the Gator Boys. (probably not this summer, but we will keep it on the list!)
Go to Red Leaf Park
Go to the Batting Cages
Watch fireworks at a Baseball Game
Light a sparkler.
Play in the sprinklers.
Swim in Boulder Creek.
Go to Elitch Gardens.
Have a family game night.
Eat Breakfast for Dinner.
See a moose in the wild.
Have an Uno night.
