Master, Mission, Mate

 ✨ Master. Mission. Mate.

Scott and I often say — we’re living a miracle.

Not because life’s been easy or tidy, but because it’s been redeemed. 💛

When we look back at our story — two kids in our late teens and early twenties trying to figure out faith, love, and purpose — it’s clear that the best decision we ever made wasn’t about each other. It was about God.

Before we said “I do,” we said “You first, Lord.”

We decided that if we were going to build a life together, God would be at the center.

That one choice reordered everything.

1️⃣ Master

You can’t serve two masters.

The world offers plenty — money, status, approval — but only one will bring peace.

When we were young, we prayed:

“God, be our first love. Be our Lord, not just our rescue plan.”

That prayer changed everything.

Putting God first didn’t make life perfect — it made it anchored.

It gave us peace in the storms and purpose in the mundane.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness,

and all these things will be added to you.”

— Matthew 6:33

“No one can serve two masters… You cannot serve both God and money.”

— Matthew 6:24

2️⃣ Mission

Before you find your person, find your purpose.

That’s where real alignment starts.

Our shared mission has always been to love God and love people — fully, imperfectly, and persistently.

To forgive, serve, worship, and walk in the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

When your mission is clear, everything else starts to make sense.

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart

and with all your soul and with all your mind.”

— Matthew 22:37

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,

baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

— Matthew 28:19

That’s been our shared goal — not to build a perfect life, but to live a purposeful one.

3️⃣ Mate

Then, there’s the beautiful mystery of marriage — two becoming one.

Not by magic. Not without mistakes. But through daily surrender.

A cord of three strands — God, Scott, and me — is not easily broken.

We’ve fought for each other. We’ve prayed over each other.

We’ve stumbled and gotten back up more times than we can count.

“Therefore what God has joined together,

let no one separate.”

— Mark 10:9

“Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves.

A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

— Ecclesiastes 4:12

Marriage takes humility, repentance, laughter, and a willingness to keep growing.

And every time we choose God’s way over our own, we see grace at work.

From This Day Forward

Here’s what I want you to hear today:

Your marital status doesn’t define you.

Married. Divorced. Dating. Waiting.

Your past doesn’t disqualify you — it just points to how deeply you’re forgiven.

You can reorder your life today.

You can start fresh right now.

Whether you’re starting over, healing from heartbreak, or standing firm in a decades-long marriage — God meets you right where you are.

Start with a simple prayer:

🕊 “God, be my first love.

Help me to seek You first in my life.”

That’s where miracles begin.

Not in perfection, but in surrender.

Not in what you’ve done, but in who He is.

💬 Master first.

Mission next.

Mate in time.

That’s the path to peace, purpose, and a love that lasts.
